Sunday, January 11, 2 PM: For the Fun of It: It seems pretty obvious as to why we play video games, but in this age of being hyper-critical of every piece of media we consume, it feels in some ways that we’ve in some ways lost why we play these in the first place – to simply have fun. So, we’ll chat about gaming just for the fun of it.
Sunday, January 11, 7 PM: Like A Warm Blanket – the genre of the cozy, comforting, wholesome video game really exploded during the COVID lockdowns and have only gotten more popular as gamers seek something to play that doesn’t center around some form of terrible conflict. We’ll talk about this genre and games that are simply a nice, pleasant escape.
Saturday, January 31, 2 PM: After the Credits: Post-game content in video games is nothing new. But more and more we’re seeing developers add more and more game content after the end credits of the game, in some cases, adding tens more hours of gameplay that’s really part of the game that go beyond things like optional dungeons and bonus content. So that begs the question: why do it? And why are more developers getting into this habit?
